Fun at the Park

Posted by: Maggie

Last week I found a new park to take Eleanor to. Our usual park is always packed with kids in the play area and dogs off of their leashes outside of the play area.  The new park has newer equipment and has been far less crowded the couple times we have gone.

Eleanor loves the park. She loves being outside and loves the sand.

She’s even willing to share it.

Eleanor is extremely social, and always makes friends. She must get that from my dad’s side of the family, they are all charismatic and gregarious. She did not, however, get it directly from me or Josh. Josh is generally anti-social and I’m better, but still don’t really like having to make small talk with people. To be honest I don’t like going to the park. I don’t like to have to talk to the other parents and the kids. I’m usually okay with the kids, but despite having my own, I’m not really a kid person. I mostly hate having the same conversation with the other parents over and over again. “How old is your daughter? Mine is 15 months. Yes, she is very tall for her age. Yes, she is very social. Yes, she has dimples. Yes, she is loud. Thanks, I like the pig tails too.” But Eleanor loves the park and loves the kids so, we go.

The little girl below was afraid of Josh taking pictures even after I explained to her that he was Eleanor’s daddy. She had a death grip on my hand. She kept telling me, “Let’s go.” It didn’t help that her grandfather, who was there with her, was on his cell phone the whole time and didn’t pay much attention to her. But luckily she had Eleanor there to show her her nose.

p.s. Is it weird to have two Friday the 13ths in one year?
