Giveaway #1
So, we are set to reach 300 posts before the end of the year! I know that’s not that many posts for the almost 2 years now that the blog has existed, but what can I say, I’m a little busy, thanks!
But I’m pretty proud of this accomplishment and want to celebrate it! So we are having a giveaway!
“What is it?” you ask? Ok, so I haven’t really decided yet, but I think I’m planning on a fun little gift package of stuff we love, that we think others will enjoy as well. I promise that it will be good. And I’ll officially announce what it is on the 300th post!
“When will that be?” Well, we’ll see. It depends on if I keep up my regular posting, but I’m going to say pretty assuredly that it will be sometime between Christmas and New Years. So keep your eyes and blog readers on Making Me Cranky.
“How do you win?” Boy you imaginary blog readers sure do ask a lot of questions. So, here are the rules: You get an entry for commenting on this post and answering the question: What is your favorite thing about the holiday season?. You can get a second entry by emailing me at maggie@makingmecranky.com with a suggestion for a Fabulous Friday post. And you can get a third entry with a comment on that 300th post telling us what you love about Making Me Cranky, yup, I’m fishing for compliments and giving you plenty of time to think of one.
Giveaway #2
We also happen to be getting close to 500 comments. Wow, 300 posts and only 500 comments, you guys sure are lurkers, because while we don’t have a huge number of readers we could easily reach 500 comments in a week if you people commented every time you visited. Oh well, I don’t blame you. I am a lurker myself. I only comment regularly on one or two of the 102 blogs I read (I just checked my google reader for that number, yikes I read too many blogs).
So I want to celebrate my commenters and maybe turn some of you lurkers into commenters. So a special gift will go to whoever is that 500th comment. It must be a real comment though, no spam or comment just to comment. I mean you have to read the post and then make a real comment on it please. No other rules, just comment away on any post, existing or coming up, and whoever is number 500 gets a prize! And if that 500th comment appears on the 300th post well then I may have to give them something extra special.
I also haven’t decided on the prize for this one, but I promise it will also be a good one.
I’m not going to tell you how close we are to 500, but I will give you a hint: At our current rate, we won’t hit 500 until the end of January. So comment away, I’d love to see enough comments to be able to give the prizes away at the same time. Good Luck!

There are so many things to love about the holidays. I love baking with the family, decorating the Christmas tree, picking out the perfect gifts, looking at holiday lights, wrapping presents for my husband when he’s not around, spending time with family, and eating fabulous homemade meals. But the best thing of all are those joyful expressions on my daughters’ faces that seem to linger from the beginning of December to New Year.
Charlie Brown Xmas soundtrack is my favorite part. Love that Vince Guaraldi. And the smell of the Xmas tree, even though it seems to die before we get to Xmas every year. Also starting to enjoy the cold weather. I mean “cold” weather. Must be getting old or something. Oh, and all that joy and spirit stuff too, that’s all right.
Hey! Wait… shouldn’t there be a rule that any creators/authors of Making Me Cranky are ineligible for this contest??!! Note Josh’s comment above! j/k
So my favorite thing about the holidays?? I would have to just say the mood and festivness (is that a word?) of everything, everywhere, and everyone around. Everything just seems so much more cheerful, warm, and loving. I also love Christmas lights.
My favorite thing about Christmas might actually be shopping for a gift for my brother. I always try to find the most rare records for him. I guess that’s kinda lame, I also love how advertisements show very happy people out shopping but when you really get out there on the roads and in the shops nobody is that happy. And I love the cold weather. And the song silver bells. I sing it all year and it’s nice to finally get it right.
Hi Maggie! My favorite things about the holidays are the cold and crisp weather, enjoying traditions with friends and family, the seasonal coffee drinks and creamers that get put on the shelves like pumpkin spice, caramel apple, etc, shopping and wrapping presents/goodies, sending out holiday cards, and just feeling the sense of what the holidays are all about….enjoying your health, family, and friends…
@Christina — No way, I’m winning whatever the H that prize is! I’ll fight anyone for it!
My favorite part of the holidays is being “income restricted.” It makes me completely creative in my gift-giving, or completely free to NOT commercialize the holiday at all. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE Disneyland at Christmas- its completely magical and satisfies this southern-california girl’s need for “snow.”
Ok, if my brother is choosing the winner and I win, does that disqualify me? I want those socks! I have to hook me a man! Or … just warm up my feet. Today’s wind chill puts us at about zero degrees. My favorite thing about the holiday season is spending time with my brother! And, that is sincere, not because he’s picking the winner. Hi Brian! Love you!
