Eleanor + Sharpie = Trouble

Posted by: Maggie

There’s not much of a story to tell. We thought she was sleeping, instead she was working on this:

She managed to find a sharpie and go to town on herself. Luckily, that’s all she drew on. And she was pretty proud of herself.

Josh wanted to flip out, but I reminded him that this was definitely one of those parenting moments where you really should just laugh about it rather than getting angry (not at all like the poop incident). She was pretty adorable with those kitty whiskers.

p.s. Those permanent markers are pretty permanent. We managed to get her face mostly clean (we think it must have been the last place she drew), but the rest of her pretty much looks like this after several scrubs.

  1. obviously, she needs whiskers with whatever costume she gets for Halloween this year :)

  2. Well, that’s the most adorable thing I’ve seen in awhile.

  3. Aw. I love those whiskers.

Not pictured: completely blue palms (both hands!), and as I didn’t discover until the next day, a blue belly! And yet not a single mark on her clothes, walls, or mirror. Hmmm.

So cute! And Josh, it could be worse. You could be cleaning whiskers off of the cabinets.

SO SO SO CUTE! As an avid fan of your site (I am an old school keegangross.com follower)this may be in my top 3 favorite posts!

What makes these pictures so perfect is her expression; she is obviously proud of her work!

Megan, first of all, I love that you reference keegangross.com for cred. You are awesome. When we blow up and become Dooce, you can tell people that you “liked their early stuff, but now’s its become too commercial.”

Yes, Eleanor WAS quite proud of herself. What’s even funnier, now that I think about it, was that I didn’t even catch her in the act. In fact, when I saw her light on in her room and came in, she was playing with STAPLES (we have a storage drawer of office supplies in her closet, if you’re wondering). So I cleaned up all the staples and was putting her back to bed, when I noticed the whiskers. So she clearly had decorated herself, all over, and then FINISHED, and put the Sharpie BACK! I can only imagine that she looked at herself in the mirror and thought, “Yup, that’s good, my work here is done.” Then moved on to the stapler. Wow.
