Happy Halloween!

Posted by: Josh

Well it was bound to happen. We probably should have been prepared. All the signs were there – the wild mood swings, the growling. The maniacal grinning, the nibbling on naked toes. But we ignored the signs, and now we’ve paid the ultimate price. Tonight, Eleanor mauled us to death.

It was horrible. But everything leading up to it was tons of Halloween fun! Maggie’s nuts about Halloween and decked out the place for the season. She even painted her own little ghost pumpkins to haunt the living room.

We all had a great time carving pumpkins, but Eleanor was especially into it. She liked her pumpkin so much she tried to eat it.

We did a Sleeping Beauty pumpkin theme this year, featuring Maleficent, the baddest of the Disney villains.

Maleficent, the Three Fairy Godmothers, and Maleficent in ass-kicking dragon form.

Happy Halloween!

Maggie’s Studying for the Bar

Posted by: Josh

Josh here. Maybe some of you out there are wondering why Maggie hasn’t answered your e-mails recently. Or maybe you saw her reading a foot-thick book at the Coffee Bean and said hello, and were surprised when she didn’t even look up. Or maybe you were in your car and you saw Maggie driving, and you waved and smiled, and were confused when she gave you the bird and ran you off the road into a shallow muddy ditch. Well, let me tell you a little story about a test called “Bar.”

It’s three days long, six hours a day. It covers 14 areas of the law (that’s most of them). It’s in two weeks. July 29, 30, and 31st. If you want an idea of what the Bar is like, you gotta rent the movie, “A Lawyer Walks into a Bar” and meet the guy who’s taken it 42 times.

But, despair not, things will be friendly again after that, e-mails will be returned, along with waves and hellos, and no more vehicular manslaughter, which may or may not be on the Bar, but you better know about it either way.

Fourth of July

For July 4th, we wanted to see some fireworks! It’s been a while since we’ve seen a fireworks show on the fourth of July. So we packed ourselves a picnic and went to the Calabasas High School show. Eleanor was really into the band and rocked out to some sweet classic rock. She even sang along, although it may have sounded more like shouting to the untrained ear.

Rocking it out.

Daddy’s so interesting when he eats…

C’mon Mommy I can’t see the band!

Holy cow it’s fireworks! So as soon as the fireworks started we were concerned that Eleanor might not be down for such loudness, so we picked up and moved from the front of the field to the back. I covered her ears, but she really didn’t seem to mind the explosions. She drank her bottle and stared up at the fireworks, and by the time she’d finished her dinner she was totally into the show. She shouted at the sky after the finale, and seemed disappointed that it was over. The show wasn’t especially great, in spite of the advertised “10 extra minutes!”, but it was enough to give Eleanor a taste for fireworks. Happy birthday America!
