As we usually do, we kept Valentine’s Day pretty simple this year. We spent the morning redecorating Eleanor’s room. Then we went to get some lunch and some Menchie’s for dessert.

Then home for a nap for Eleanor.

And afterward we exchanged our gifts and cards.

Josh got me my favorite Calla Lillies.

We got Eleanor some fun Valentine’s socks. But, as it turns out they were adult size socks. So they were just a little big for Eleanor.

But they fit me perfectly. (That’s me in the stripes and Eleanor in the frogs). In my defense, don’t they look like kids socks? And Eleanor’s feet are almost the same size as mine. Anybody could have made the same mistake.

Eleanor wore the Valentine’s Day crown she made in school. This was just before she ripped it to pieces.

Josh found the perfect card for Eleanor! She loved it! That’s her hooting below!

For dinner we just had some leftover Chinese food. And after Eleanor went to bed Josh and I watched Away We Go. And that was it. A lovely Valentine’s Day!

We did in fact, “party like it’s [my] birthday,” although we failed to “sip Bacardi like it’s [my] birthday.”
So I turned the big 2-8 on the 5th! I celebrated that evening with a fun dinner with Betsy and Andrew, my two BFFs (you know, I started using BFF sarcastically, but now I just use it like it’s a real word, hmmmm I think the joke is on me) at our favorite restaurant in Silverlake, Cliff’s Edge.

My favorite cheese and fruits platter:

And delicious pumpkin ravioli:

From Betsy’s Camera:

I love these two! Love, love love! My two very favorite people in the world outside of my family!

Thanks for dinner guys! And thanks for driving Andrew! Love you guys!
And the celebrations continued through the weekend. Saturday night Josh and I had a fun date night, dinner and movie, sorry no photos! Sunday morning breakfast with my dad and brother Elliott. Sunday night Josh’s family brought dinner over here. And I still have plans for another birthday dinner with my mom and the rest of my siblings. Birthdays are the best!

New Years weekend I went to the HoodLims’ baby shower. Josh and Eleanor stayed home, because Josh’s cousin was in town visiting.

The HoodLims have such great parties, always with tons of food and drinks.

I spent most of the party hanging out with their lovely friends.

Then we all sat and watched the requisite baby shower games.

One was a guys relay race, of course with backpack bellies.

Another was backpack belly twister. Pretty entertaining to watch.

The last game was guess the baby’s name. Kristy read all the names aloud and announced that we would have to wait until the baby was born to find out who won!

The cake was the cutest! With tiny baby Crocs on top.

In addition to cake we had Kristy’s famous giant pizookie! So delicious!

After cake and pizookie we headed inside to open the gifts.

Andrew kept track of the gifts on a spreadsheet on his laptop. Those HoodLims are so cute.

Kristy got tons of great stuff, including a very cute diaper cake!

Coming Soon: HoodLims Maternity Portraits & Newborn portraits sometime in February! We can’t wait to meet the little HoodLim!
