It was very hot, we wore big Harry Potter robes that we sweated profusely underneath, and the speeches were too long and too many, but at least its over.
My family all came, including my 92-year-old grandfather.

Eleanor looked like a movie star in her sunglasses and floppy hat.

Afterwards we all went to lunch at my favorite Malibu restaurant Taverna Tony.

The Sunday before last my friends Erin, Megan, and I threw a baby shower for our friends Melissa and Mike. Melissa is a fellow law student and her baby is due a week after our graduation. That means she will be studying for the Bar exam with a newborn baby at home. I don’t think any of us are worried about her passing the exam and I don’t really think she is either. If anyone can do it in such challenging circumstances Melissa can. She is hardworking, brilliant, and the most motherly person I know. She will be an amazing attorney and an incredible mom.

Our best friends were there to celebrate with us.

Eleanor was very good during the party. She always seems to enjoy having new people around.

Erin made all of the delicious food and brought a beautiful diaper cake designed by her cousin as a centerpiece.

I made the cupcakes and we decorated them with little plastic babies.

Here are Melissa, Erin and I at the end of the afternoon.

Sunday afternoon we celebrated my friend Betsy’s Birthday with a barbeque in the park down the street from her apartment in Silver Lake.

Here she is in her birthday tiara with Eleanor.

Betsy and her husband Justin’s moms had fun meeting Eleanor.

Betsy and Justin went for a ride around the park on their new bicycle built for two.

Josh and I felt like bad parents because we forgot sunscreen for Eleanor and for ourselves. We managed to keep Eleanor out of the sun, but did not do the same for ourselves and we both ended up burnt.
Happy 26th Betsy! Can you believe we are so old?!
