Our friend Betsy is having her first baby next month! I’m super excited for her and her husband Justin. Back in August (I know, I’m a tad behind in my blogging), her sister and friends threw her a gorgeous baby shower. Unfortunately, I was feeling so sick and exhausted that morning, so I only took a few photos. Luckily, Amy was also there! Yay! So you can check out her post and all of her fabulous photos of the day.

Love you Bets! Can’t wait to meet your little girl!

I took my best friend Betsy out for a birthday brunch a few weeks ago. We usually do a dinner, but we are busy ladies these days and we’re not so much up for late nights. And we were attempting to accommodate Andrew’s unpredictable work schedule. As usual, we moved things around for him and he still couldn’t make it.
Brunch was a pretty great idea though. I think I’d like to make it a regular event. I don’t get to see Betsy often enough.
We went to brunch at Dusty’s in Silver Lake. And we invited Betsy’s friend Elsie & her husband Sergio to join us.

Elsie and Sergio had orange and blueberry mimosas! Yum!

Pear tart for dessert! Yup, dessert at brunch. The best!

Happy Birthday Bets! Love you!

My friend Susan lived in Japan for four years and has had a love for that country for most of her life. When she saw tragedy striking the country she loves she wanted to help. She had an amazing idea of how she could raise money to help the Red Cross relief efforts. She began folding origami cranes in exchange for donations. I offered to help by photographing and designing an ad for her, but my help was not needed. As I dropped by Susan’s yesterday to pick up a crane she informed me that just minutes earlier she had received a big donation. Her goal was $1,000 and in less than a week she met it!

If you missed the chance to donate to Cranes for Japan, but would like a crane as a memory of your donation to the relief effort Susan is still folding cranes for those who make direct donations. All you have to do is send her an email (susanfujiki [at] gmail [dot] com) with your address letting her know you made a donation and she’ll send you a crane!
I’m so proud of her for showing all of us that we can all make a difference and do something to help others by putting in our love and effort and enlisting our network of friends to help. Congratulations Susan! You are amazing!
