A few weeks ago I read this guest post over at Campfire Chic by Laura of A Snail’s Life. Laura challenged readers to start small and plant something towards the goal of growing your own food. It sounded like a fun homeschool project for Eleanor and one of my 30 by 30 goals is to keep plants alive, so I thought we’d give it a try.
We started small with these pots of basil and daisies from Target:
They came with a packet of seeds and this amazingly small dried soil puck. When you add water it fills the pot! So cool!
After we planted them I was sure I had done it wrong and they would never sprout. I don’t have a good track record with plants. I kill succulents!
Day One:
But lo and behold! About 5 days later, up they came!
Day Seven:
And they’re still going strong!
Day Fourteen:
I’ll keep you all updated on their progress!
