Happy Birthday Josh!

Posted by: Maggie

Today is my husband’s birthday. Happy birthday baby! I love you more than all of the ice cream in the world, well except maybe for that cinnamon ice cream we had at that restaurant in Marina del Rey like four years ago. Okay, okay, even more than the cinnamon ice cream, but that was really, really good right?! You are just about the very best husband a woman (or man, really) could ask for. Although, you could probably clean something once in a while, maybe make the bed, but besides that the absolute best husband, really.

I want you to know how much I love and appreciate you for going to work every day to take care of your family even though that was supposed to be my job. I know that we had a deal. I was going to graduate, pass the bar, and then get a job that supports the family so that you could be a stay-at-home-dad. But so far I haven’t been able to keep my side of the bargain. Sorry about that, and thanks for picking up my slack.

You are also the best Daddy ever, just ask Eleanor. She asks for you all day and her little face lights up when she hears you at the door. She is crazy about you and
so am I!

Happy Birthday to my favorite potential ManBaby!

Observe This

The weekend before last, the unseasonably, unbelievably hot weekend, we visited the Griffith Observatory as yet another almost free thing to do in LA. The Observatory has free admission and free parking, but if you want to see a show in the planetarium it’s seven bucks. That works out well for us since Eleanor is much too little, and loud, and squirmy to sit through a planetarium show. So we just ran around on the front lawn (sweating profusely) and then checked out the exhibits. Eleanor was pretty excited about all of the people around and all of the lights in the exhibits.

New Menchie’s! Holy Crap, This Better Not Make Me Fatter!

A new Menchie’s opened just down the street from us last weekend. You know how much we love Menchie’s, so we were pretty excited about it and decided to check it out Sunday afternoon.

The place was packed. And, by the way, I don’t really think men should be allowed to wear shorts. It just looks wrong.

The yogurt bar has this beautiful green glass circle backsplash. I would love something like that in my future kitchen.

It was very hot out. Eleanor couldn’t wait to get some sweet Mango sorbet to cool her off.

Notice the crotch that sidled into my shot below. That crotch, well the guy attached to it, handed us coupons for free yogurt on our next visit for coming in opening weekend. Super sweet!

So as not to sabotage my diet we got the fat free yogurt and walked. I figured it would about even out in the calories ingested and burnt. The walk is only about three-quarters of a mile each way, not too bad, although it was way too hot for that on Sunday afternoon. We decided that from now on we will go after dinner.

Eleanor rode in her stroller on the way there, but insisted on walking back. She made it about halfway when we decided she was slowing us down too much with her stopping to inspect every piece of trash, flower, or grassy lawn.
