Fabulous Friday: Boudoir Photography by
Maggie Keegan Gross Photography

Posted by: Maggie

I have been dying to show you all these photos! My gorgeous sister-in-law Jenny called me a few weeks ago and asked me to take some boudoir photos as a gift for her anniversary. I was thrilled! I had just decided that I was in love with boudoir photography and really wanted to focus a lot of my portfolio building on it, in addition to my children and family portraiture. I was beyond happy to have such a lovely model to start out on. I hope you all enjoy them! And don’t worry the images should be safe for work! No nudity!

Also, you all get a little sneak peak at my new business logo. Josh wanted me to wait until the site was up so you could see it in it’s full size and loveliness. But, you know me, sooooo impatient. I had to start using it as my image watermark right away! I hope you love it as much as I do!

I would just die for that gorgeous natural red hair! Love, love, love it! How can you not love a redhead?!

This next one is my absolute favorite! I could die right now, having created such a beautiful image!

And I just can’t get enough of those freckles, especially on her shoulders! So pretty!

Happy Anniversary Beth & Jenny!

p.s. They have their own blog now, another anniversary gift from Jenny to Beth. You can check it out here.

AND if you don’t remember, Amy was their wedding photographer. You can see some of the images from their wedding here.

Valentine’s Day Fun!

Posted by: Maggie

As we usually do, we kept Valentine’s Day pretty simple this year. We spent the morning redecorating Eleanor’s room. Then we went to get some lunch and some Menchie’s for dessert.

Then home for a nap for Eleanor.

And afterward we exchanged our gifts and cards.

Josh got me my favorite Calla Lillies.

We got Eleanor some fun Valentine’s socks. But, as it turns out they were adult size socks. So they were just a little big for Eleanor.

But they fit me perfectly. (That’s me in the stripes and Eleanor in the frogs). In my defense, don’t they look like kids socks? And Eleanor’s feet are almost the same size as mine. Anybody could have made the same mistake.

Eleanor wore the Valentine’s Day crown she made in school. This was just before she ripped it to pieces.

Josh found the perfect card for Eleanor! She loved it! That’s her hooting below!

For dinner we just had some leftover Chinese food. And after Eleanor went to bed Josh and I watched Away We Go. And that was it. A lovely Valentine’s Day!

Resolution Update!

Posted by: Maggie

It’s been six weeks since New Years so I thought I’d check in and let you know how I’m doing with the rest of my resolutions.

1. Lose 10 pounds

The plan was to eat better and exercise more. More specifically I was to give up ice cream and soda, limit my dairy intake, and start eating breakfast everyday until my birthday. Additionally, although I didn’t mention it at the time, I gave up alcohol. As far as food goes I stuck to it. I didn’t have any ice cream, soda, or alcohol. I pretty much limited my dairy, although I probably could have done a little better at that. I started having Kristy’s suggestion of Greek yogurt with fruit and granola for breakfast, although I altered it a little. I have about a cup of low fat yogurt top it with a half cup of frozen berries that I thawed in the fridge overnight and then a quarter cup of low fat granola with almonds (from Trader Joe’s) and I leave out the honey. It’s very low fat, low cal, super nutritious, extra delicious.

For exercise, as I mentioned in my Happiness post on Tuesday, I’ve been going to Pilates five days a week. I don’t exercise on Fridays and then I try to go out and do something active with Josh and Eleanor on Sundays. Which is actually more fun than I expected it to be. I’m generally a stay at home, watch a movie, read a book kinda gal. Definitely not an outdoorswoman. But I’ve really been enjoying the fresh air on our Sunday morning outings. It’s nice to get outside and let Eleanor run around and chase after her.

So, okay, okay, enough of the boring stuff! You are all waiting to find out how much I’ve lost, right?! Did I make my 10 pounds in six weeks goal?! Well, no I didn’t. But you didn’t really expect me to right? I know I didn’t. But I really like to set ambitious goals for myself. It makes me work a little harder. And, I mean, it’s hard to lose a lot of weight when you already eat really well. So what did I lose? Well, I still did great! I lost 5 pounds! Which is more than I lost in all of last year when my goal last year was to lose 10 pounds. So I’m halfway to my goal for the year and I’m only six weeks in. Pretty good I think. And it’s noticeable. I can see definition in my abs that wasn’t there before, my waist is definitely slimmer, and my butt is definitely smaller. And all of my clothes are now just a little too big.

Now that I’m here, I’ve decided to set a new goal. I want to up the weight loss goal and give myself a new deadline. Ten more pounds in six more weeks! I’m going to step things up, so I plan to continue my food restrictions and add a reduction of portion sizes to three-quarters or half depending on the meal. So I’m down to 124 and I’d like to be 114 by the start of Passover, March 30! Wish me luck!

2. Get Serious About Photography

I haven’t been great at keeping up with my daily photos. Decent, but not great, but I’m going to recommit and get back to it. I think I’ll add it to the resolutions chart I’m going to make. So I can check off when I’ve done my photos for the day.

On the building my portfolio front, things are going pretty great. I shot a Maternity Session in January. I plan to do a Newborn Session as soon as the HoodLims invite me over. Little Audrey Grace was born last week by the way! I can’t wait to meet her! I have another Maternity Session planned for late March or early April.

I also shot a Boudoir Session which I’ll share with you all next week. I really can’t wait to show you! I loved this shoot!

And I realize that I never did an official 2 year old shoot with Eleanor so I think I’m going to do that this weekend!

Oh, and Amy and I are taking a Boudoir Workshop this weekend! So fun!

I’m still taking requests for family portrait sessions. Let me know if you want photos of you and your little ones to help me build my portfolio!

I’ve also decided that I am absolutely in love with Boudoir Photography so if anyone is interested, let me know!

Lastly, Josh is building a gorgeous website for my photo business! Can’t wait to show everyone!

3. Spend More Alone Time with My Husband

So, the plan was to have at least one date night a month. We failed! No date nights in January! But we’ve had a February one, maybe we’ll try to get in a second one at the end of the month to make up for the one we missed! Recommit!

4. See Friends Twice a Month

This one has been easy. I’m totally on top of it! Saw the HoodLims twice in January. Saw Andrew a few times. Went to Mentryville with Andrew and Amy and then had them over for dinner. Saw Andrew and Betsy already in February. Also went to a Suztoys party at my SCV mom friend Cindy’s place where I hung out with my SCV mom friends Susan,  Jackie, Cristen, and Lisa. I have plans to get coffee with two different people this week. I’m making dinner plans for next week with a law school friend I haven’t seen in almost a year. I’m a little social butterfly lately! Good for me!

5. Be a Better Friend

Ugggh. I kinda suck at this one. The plan was to email a different friend I haven’t talked to in a while every week. In the last six weeks I’ve emailed two friends. Not great! Although I did send birthday greetings to two other friends via Twitter and text, but not good enough! Recommit!

6. Get Happier

I’m just going to refer you to Tuesday’s post on this one.

I’ll be checking in again next month to let you know if I’m still keeping up with my resolutions!
