A Song for Saturday: Los Angeles, I’m Yours

Posted by: Maggie

After last week’s Saturday Song I started thinking about my favorite songs about Los Angeles.  I came up with my very favorite. Here it is for your listening and viewing pleasure, The Decemberists live at the Hollywood Bowl accompanied by the LA Philhamonic, performing Los Angeles, I’m Yours:

p.s. Although this isn’t our video, Josh and I were at that show! And really so was Eleanor, I was 5 months pregnant!

p.p.s. A little Making Me Cranky trivia for you. I doubt anyone has guessed this and I don’t think I ever mentioned this before, but the name of this blog, Making Me Cranky, is in tribute to this song. “But oh, the smell of burnt cocaine, The dolor and decay, It only makes me cranky.”

And while I’m at it, here’s another favorite Decemberists song that I just had to include, as it is apropos to the season:

A Song for Saturday: The Good Girls Are Home with Broken Hearts

This song reminds me of summertime growing up. I just love Tom Petty and I really love songs about Los Angeles.

Happy Saturday!

I am a sucker for fireworks and songs about America. This one is my all time favorite:

It brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Thank you Ray Charles!

Happy 4th of July everyone! I love you America!
