A Little Cranky Update!

Posted by: Maggie

Hi Friends!

I meant to write you some fun posts yesterday and today, but I’m not perfect alright! I’m busy entertaining house guests, being a lawyer with a court hearing this week, while also being a photographer booking new clients and planning shoots for next week! So get off my back internet! I hear you complaining, and I’m telling you to knock it off!

So, anyways, instead of actually writing what I was planning for yesterday and today I thought I’d just give you a little update on what we’re up to this summer!

  • I’ve just completed an AMAZING Online Boudoir Photography Workshop from my favorite photographer in the whole world Christa Meola!
  • Eleanor has been enjoying her preschool summer program, which features weekly visitors including the Bubble Man, a Reptile Handler, and the Library Fairy, and a water play day once a week! I wish I was in a preschool summer program!
  • My best friend Andrew turned 30, so I took him out for Mexican food, and his wife Amy bought him an awesome new tattoo, can’t wait to see it in person and for Amy to blog about it!
  • Josh’s best friend Brian came to stays with us for sort of a week. He arrived last Tuesday and left this Tuesday night, but left us for the weekend to be in a friend’s wedding in San Francisco. So, we didn’t have nearly enough Brian time. Although his stories about Texas and teaching college kids are pretty amazing so we forgive him.
  • While Brian was here we took him to see the new Dinosaur exhibit at the Natural History Museum, had drinks with Andrew, went to visit UCLA, had dinner in Westwood with an old friend from high school plus Diddy Riese Cookies, and had a day at the beach, followed by dinner party with my friend and frequent cranky commenter Megan! It was a pretty full, although far too short, visit. There will be posts to come about various portions of the visit.
  • Josh and I will be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary this weekend with a night at the Farmer’s Daughter in West Hollywood. Can’t wait! A night without a child! We are going to watch so much tv!
  • Eleanor will be at home with Uncle Elliott. She’s pretty excited about that.
  • I’ve got a Boudoir Party shoot with three lovely ladies next week! I am beyond excited!
  • AND I’ve got a wedding and a baby shower coming up this month.

So, you know, pretty busy over here. How bout you guys? Having a fun summer?

An Ode to Brian

Today is Brian’s birthday. Brian is a fancy man who happens to be taller than you. Also, he’s my friend. I won’t bore you with all the boring details of our boring exploits in high school and what have you after that, assuming we are both still alive right now, but you should know that Brian is like me, except he doesn’t like Dr. Pepper, and one time I’m pretty sure I saw him enjoy the company of a cat. The good news is that he has had a beard for longer than I have had a face, and that’s something a man can respect. And even though he now has power over the lives of college-age kids somewhere in Texas, he still finds the time to throw me crumbs from atop his ivory tower (painted up like a football field) upon which he strides with legs like circus tent poles.

To Brian, who wins at staying alive for thirty years today! Enjoy the victory my friend, because tomorrow is going to be a lot like yesterday. Mwa!

Hey Brian Came to See Us Again!

I almost forgot to post about Brian’s visit at Christmas. In case you’re new here, Brian is Josh’s best friend who lives in Philadelphia where he’s finishing up his PhD in History. He was back in town for the holidays for a few weeks, so we got to see him a lot more than we usually do on his visits.

We saw him for the first time right after Christmas and he came bearing gifts.

The blocks were a gift from both Brian and his sister Lauren. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see Lauren because I was sick right before Christmas and she headed home to New York right after. But we immediately emailed her Eleanor’s thanks:

After Eleanor went to bed. We gifted Brian with some delicious treats:

Josh’s famous tortilla soup.

A little something to drink.

And a sweet treat for dessert. Brian and I actually went out on a Spudnuts run, only to find out they were closed for the night. So we ended up with some grocery store donuts, which were still pretty delicious.

Okay, okay enough with the set up, on to the Man Meat!

Have I mentioned how much Brian loves it when I refer to him as Man Meat and then tell the ladies to “come and get it!”

Oh he loves it! So ladies! Come and get it!

Alright, enough of that. Here’s some adorable Eleanor and Brian bonding shots.

Watching a movie together.

Brian taught her how to use his camera, which resulted in a lot of close-ups of her eyeball.

Another night Eleanor showed Brian how to tie the drawstrings on his sweater.

Aren’t they adorable! Eleanor is crazy about Brian by the way. As soon as he would arrive to hang out she would say, “Come on Brian”, and drag him off to play a game with her. And she still asks if Brian is coming to have dinner with us at least once or twice a week. She saw me working on the photos for this post and got really excited, “Brian!” We miss you Brian! Come visit again soon!
