A few weekends ago we had a little party to celebrate our 5th anniversary. We kept it small–just immediate family, our oldest friends, and a few of the very close friends that we have made since getting married.
It was an ice cream social, so we served just cookies, ice cream, and sodas.

I of course forgot to take pictures like I always do when I host a party, and Josh spent the night chasing Eleanor around. Luckily Amy was there to take some fabulous shots for us. You can check the rest out here.
We had a great time and we hope everyone else did too.

Eleanor’s first birthday party was on her birthday last Sunday. It was Winter Onederland themed, since Eleanor is a winter baby and I love the holidays. My Dad and Step-Mom hosted it at their home, my Mom and I took care of the decorations, and Josh and I did the food and drinks except for the cupcakes and mini-cake which my mom made special for Eleanor. It was a big party with a lot of friends and family. Eleanor is a little social butterfly so she loved being surrounded by all of her guests and she enjoyed spending time with some other babies in the family.
Our good friend and photographer Amy was there to capture the special day. These pictures are all hers except for the first two and last two.

Eleanor looked stunning in her super fancy party dress.

We had some very cute red velvet ballet flats for Eleanor to wear with her dress, but she would not keep them on so she stayed barefoot throughout the party.

Eleanor had fun with her Aunt Jenny and Aunt Beth (Josh’s sister). Too bad her dress won’t be so fancy when she is the flower girl at their wedding in February.

Andrew (Amy’s husband and my friend from high school) loves spending time with Eleanor. He had a playdate at the park with Eleanor today. I’ll post pictures soon.

We thought that we could try to show Eleanor how to blow out her candle. I think she is a little young for that and we should have at least practiced prior to the actual event. Josh and I blew them out for her just as she attempted to burn her hand.

We ended the party with my brother William singing the song he wrote for Eleanor. Eleanor attempted to sing along.

Eleanor relaxed with her grandparents while the car was loaded with her gifts at the end of the evening.

For next year’s party, I’m thinking about a Pearl Harbor Day theme. She’ll love it!

My sister Maria turned 30 on Tuesday! We celebrated with a party at our mom’s on Saturday. Eleanor enjoyed the festivities, especially the lights and the sangria.
