Two Fridays ago Eleanor had a playdate with this cutie:

I met her mom at the SCV Consignment sale, she runs her own business selling adorable children’s clothing with art that she designs, and we’ve had a couple playdates since then. Shyler is a little more than a month older than Eleanor and is just too cute. She has the sweetest little voice you have ever heard.
The girls seem to be getting along and learning some things about friendship. Like, how to share with your friends:

And how to just enjoy each other’s company:

And when sometimes, close is just too close:

And when you just need to take off and have some alone time:

p.s. Doesn’t Eleanor look like a horror movie actress? She has the perfect, I just got murdered face!

And that was their playdate. Later that night I had a playdate of my own with my BFF Betsy and a few margaritas! But some things are better left not blogged about.

Josh again. Well it was bound to happen. The twin titans of babydom have once again met, and this time, it was on Eleanor’s turf. Kaitlyn Ramirez stopped by for a visit last Monday afternoon and baby town doubled in size! Kaitlyn, as you might recall, is two days older than Eleanor, so they are pretty much the same baby. You can tell because they have identical taste in fashion and toys. The girls got on fabulously.

Yes, that’s right, Kaitlyn arrived in the same giraffe top that Eleanor was wearing! Spooky, especially considering that it was Eleanor’s second outfit of the day (I was also in my second outfit, not so coincidentally). Kaitlyn missed her mommy and cried a little, but a walk outside, a bottle and a nap hit the spot. She also really seemed to enjoy having her nose cleaned.

Here are the ladies admiring each other’s style in various moods.

Hey everybody Josh wrote his first post, which is good because I wasn’t there so my recollections would likely be unreliable:
On Monday, Eleanor had her very first playdate with baby colleague, Kaitlyn Ramirez. Kaitlyn is the young progeny of Christina and Greg, of the Ramirez Family fame. Christina is my co-worker at the School of Public Policy and a fellow baby-haver. Kaitlyn was actually born only two days before Eleanor, so its almost like they are the same baby.

We were curious to see what two babies almost the exact same age would do when placed in the same room.

The answer: cry!
Actually, Eleanor was relatively fuss-free, but only because she was a guest. We had a long talk in the car ride over about appropriate behavior when visiting friends. For some reason, she is much more polite for friends and family than she is for mommy and daddy. I haven’t decided if this is a good thing or not. Eleanor and Kaitlyn seemed interested in each other, both watching carefully when the other was occupied elsewhere. But they seemed to really connect during the photo shoot on the couch, where they agreed that “this was B.S.”

Eleanor was charmed by Kaitlyn’s bumbo seat and crazy moose, but was most impressed with the giant television. She told me on the ride home that she thought it was time to upgrade. I said we’d get a new t.v. when she gets a job.
