I’m a little particular when it comes to coffee. I think most coffee kinda sucks. I like my coffee like I like my men–Jewish! Sorry, I couldn’t resist that stupid joke, but really I brew my coffee extra strong and drink it black (unless I’m making iced coffee then I add cream).
We recently started drinking Newhall Coffee. My new mom friends from SCV Moms Blog had been raving about it, so we decided to try it. I love it. And it’s nice to be supporting a local company. From their website:
“As the original Micro-Roaster in Los Angeles County, Newhall Coffee has earned a reputation as the freshest, highest quality coffee in the region. Our coffee is made from the top 1% of Class 1 specialty coffee beans and is carefully hand-roasted in small ‘micro’ batches and delivered the day after we roast it to all our retailers, corporate clients and individuals. Fresh coffee simply tastes better!”
I actually have been a supporter of Newhall Coffee for a long time. The owner, Mitch, used to own a couple coffee shops in town called Java N Jazz, where I spent a lot of time studying in high school and college. (Okay I wasn’t studying much, mostly reading Kerouac and Vonnegut and drinking a lot of coffee.)
This morning I had the opportunity to attend an event for SCV Moms Blog at Newhall Coffee’s Headquarters! We were there to taste test and vote on the new SCV Moms Blend, a portion of the proceeds from which will go to the SCV Moms Blog’s Neighbor-to-Neighbor campaign benefiting Single Mother’s Outreach.
Mitch, the owner, gave us a tour and sent us each home with a bag of Pumpkin Spice coffee and a bag of fresh roasted beans still hot straight out of the roaster!
I’ll be posting more photos from the event on SCV Moms Blog soon.
Thanks to Mitch, his wife Lisa, and the rest of the Newhall Coffee gang as well as Jackie and Andrea from SCV Moms Blog for hosting this awesome event!
Now I’m going to stink like coffee for weeks I’m sure! You really should smell my hair right now. It smells like I stuck my head in a vat of fresh micro-roasted coffee beans…delicious!!
