Terrible Twos or
Why Eleanor is Making Us Cranky These Days

Posted by: Maggie

Just look at her:

She looks like such a sweetie pie, but it seems that lately, more often than not, she’s looking like this:

or this:

and no, she’s not singing.

I’ve heard parents compare the twos to the teens and now I know exactly what they were talking about. It seems that lately everything is a big drama with Eleanor. It’s either “I can do it!!!” or “I waaaaant that!” or “NO, you do it!!” And don’t think about telling her “No” or really telling her anything that she doesn’t want to hear, like suggesting she watch a cartoon that she doesn’t want to watch. You would think that I had broken her legs and/or told her that Curious George had died. She screams and screams and cries. And half the time it’s completely unexpected and I have no idea why she’s so upset. And don’t get me started on how difficult it is to get her up and ready to go to school in the morning! What with the crying and the screaming and the fighting while I try to get her dressed and then there’s the “I don’t feel good, I don’t want to go to school.” (And, by the way, as soon as we get to school she is thrilled and excited to see her teacher and friends) She really is a delight to be around lately!
