I planned on taking two weeks off after taking the bar and then starting my new job at the firm I had previously been working part-time for. Josh had already quit his job at Pepperdine to start his new job as a stay-at-home-dad. He had planned on quitting early enough so that he could be with Eleanor while I took the bar and so that we could spend some time together before I went back to work full-time. A week before I was supposed to start I got an email from my boss saying that for various unavoidable reasons they didn’t have any work for me. While I completely understand, it left us in a terrible situation. Luckily, Josh’s boss is an angel, so he was able to go back to work as a temp to train his permanent replacement, and will be able to stay through September. Meanwhile, I am at home with Eleanor checking job postings all day, trying to send out as many resumes as possible, with very little luck so far.
It is nice to be at home with Eleanor, but it’s very depressing that I have been searching for almost a month now and can’t find a job to support my family and put my law degree to use. Hopefully, I will find something soon. I did have a promising interview with a Pasadena firm. So I am waiting to hear from them with fingers crossed.
