I’ve been having trouble getting myself out of bed lately. I used to wake up around 4:45 when I was working downtown. My alarm would go off, I’d drag myself out of bed, shower, dress, make-up, fix my hair and eat breakfast before getting Eleanor up and ready, then off to school for her, and off to catch the 7:45 train for me. But now that I’m working from home 99% of the time, I don’t feel like I’m in any kind of rush in the morning. My alarm goes off at 6:15 and then I turn it off and wake up around 7-7:30 get ready, start breakfast, wake-up Eleanor, and get her off to school, NEVER on time.
She’s supposed to start at 8:30 and I just can’t seem to get us there on time. We’re always 10-30 minutes late. I know that I need to get up a little earlier to do that and I know that I feel bad about wasting that extra hour of the morning sleeping. I guess I’m making up for the previous 6 months of never getting enough sleep by getting a little extra now. But I need to get up earlier. Ideally, I’d like to get up at 6 every morning. I love that first hour of the morning alone, drinking my first cup of coffee, reading blogs and emails before Eleanor gets up. And I’m sleeping that time away.
Anyone have any tips for me? How do you make yourself get out of bed early when you don’t HAVE to?
